What to Expect

If you visit one of our Sunday services, what can you expect?

Firstly, you won’t be asked for money!

Sometimes people feel that churches are after their money!  You won’t have that experience at Village Avenue Community Church.

Inside VACCWe do have an offering every Sunday but it’s for our regular members.  They make donations to help people in need, support missionaries, buy food for needy families in the community, and meet various church expenses.  But visitors are not asked or pressured to give money.  We’re not interested in that.

You won’t have to “dress up”!

We are not a formal church, so people don’t come in suits and ties or other formal clothes.  Most people come in neat casual clothing.  Our policy is ‘Everyone is welcome!’  The Bible says, “man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7).  God is most concerned about our heart condition.

You won’t have pressure placed on you!

We do not aim to ‘get’ people to join our church.  You are free to come and visit us, and won’t be asked to join or sign up to anything.  Over the course of a year, a lot of people visit our church.  They’re welcome to do so!

Worship Style  Outside VACC  Inside VACC

What happens at a Sunday morning service?

We sing, pray, hear teaching from the Bible, and enjoy morning tea together.  The ‘style’ of worship is contemporary, with worship led by our singers and music group.  We believe that God speaks to us today through the Bible, so we give high priority to passionate and easy-to-understand Bible teaching.

What happens at a Sunday evening service?

The evening service has more of a ‘youth flavour,’ but everyone is welcome!  We involve young people in our music ministry, and a growing number of youth are attending this service, as well as some families.  We have a great time together!

What about chidren?

During our Sunday morning service we have “Kid’s Church” (a modern name for Sunday School).  The kids really enjoy this.  They go downstairs for one hour of singing, games, and Bible stories.  For pre-school age children, we also have a creche.
